Here is the latest sketch at CC&S:

Because I haven’t created in a really long time, I chose my go-to crafty things – ink blending and butterflies… It was hard enough to get over my creative block, so I needed to be in my “crafty comfort zone”, so to speak

Here’s my card:

I added a bit of Snowflake Pops of Color Glitter on the antennae of the butterfly, for some extra dimension and interest:

It’s probably not my most sophisticated card ever, but I like it, and honestly – I’m just happy to be back in the craft room after such a long time

Funny, but the latest card that I shared, exactly one year ago, actually matches this sketch pretty nicely too! (Click on the photo if you want to see the full post)

Our new challenge theme at AAA Cards is Masculine!

The cool vintage car on the inspiration photo really got my creative mind rolling! (Pun intended ) And the ombre background sent me to my favorite technique – distress oxide blending.

Here’s my masculine birthday card!

First, I created the ombre strip at the bottom of the card. I used Spiced Marmalade and Fossilized Amber distress oxide inks – one of my favorite color combinations

Then, I added the car and the sentiment. Both of them are from Tim Holtz and Stampers Anonymous, but only the sentiment is still available (as part of the amazing Inquisitive stamp set):

That car is soooooo gorgeous, and it looks great against the blended background!

Can you believe AAA Cards challenge has been around for 10 years already?! It’s only my first full year as a DT member, but I’ve been playing with the challenge long before that So happy birthday to us!

Since it’s a birthday celebration, there are also gifts! The lucky winners will be drawn from the challenge gallery, so I really hope to see you there!

Here’s my hearts birthday card:

I absolutely love the Printmaking Hearts stamp set from Simon Says Stamp! It’s pretty easy to align the different layers, and I like the whimsical feel of the hearts. The ink colors that I used are Concord & 9th Honeysuckle, My Favorite Things Fire Coral, and Gina K. Designs Dusty Rose.

Once I finished stamping the hearts, I stamped two sentiments from the Ocean Minded stamp set from Gina K. Designs. I think the funky letters match the whimsical vibe very nicely.

Here’s our new sketch!

The stacked squares reminded me of layer cakes, so that’s what I went for

I used the Birthday Bash stamp set from Gina K. Designs. It’s a great set for all things birthday, but sadly it’s no longer available

For the chocolate layers I used Vintage Photo Distress ink. I really like the texture on the stamped layers, it makes them look much more realistic and yummy

To finish my card, I added one of the sentiments from the same stamp set.

I think it’s my first-ever birthday card with a layer cake! Usually my birthday cards are with balloons or presents, but almost never with cakes Isn’t it strange?

Here’s our new sketch:

I decided to use a mirror image of the sketch, and instead of stripes, to use bunnies

I used stamps from the Brushstroke Bunnies stamp set from Trinity Stamps for the bunnies, and a perfect little sentiment from Tim Holtz Stampers Anonymous Note Quotes stamp set.

The hand-drawn vibe of the bunnies matches the quirky sentiment beautifully! (at least in my opinion LOL )

This Easter card was super quick to create once I had my idea for it, and I love the untraditional black and white look instead of pastels/florals

Our new challenge at AAA Cards is a sketch challenge – my favorite kind!

This may come as a surprise, but I actually decided not to use butterflies on my card! Yes, I know, it’s a bit of a shock for me too, because butterflies are my go-to images (as you can see here)… Instead, I decided to go for another one of my favorite images – balloons!

For the balloon rainbow, I used a cute balloon stamp from Pink and Main’s Make a Wish stamp set. I used the following ink cubes from Gina K. Designs: Red Hot, Sweet Mango, Wild Dandelion, Lucky Clover, and Ocean Mist.

To contrast the colorful balloon rainbow, and to match the horizontal strip on the sketch, I added a black birthday sentiment strip – and my card was done!

It’s been so long since I played in the Color Hues challenge! It’s one of my favorite card challenges so I’m happy to be back

The latest color combination is fabulouuuuus! AND I love the new graphic as well – so good

Here’s my card:

The lilac and mint colors inspired me to create a floral card, using stamps from The Best Things in Life stamp set from Gina K. Designs. I used the matching “coloring” stamps to color the outline images, using Lovely Lavender and Applemint ink cubes.

Can you see how the sentiment is “embedded” in the background? I love when it happens!

Here’s our sketch:

One of my best friends celebrated his birthday on Saturday, so naturally I had to make him a birthday card! I usually struggle with masculine cards, but the sketch gave me an idea. I decide to rotate it and create a simple vertical design:

For the stripes I used the long halftone strip from Altenew’s Halftone Squares stamp set. It’s a great set for monochromatic designs like this one. (By the way, you can find another example here.)

I stamped the stripes with Soft Stone ink from Gina K. Designs, and added the tall sentiment from the Big Old Birthday stamp set from CZ Design. I used my self-made Black Soot Archival ink pad for this, since I wanted a large ink pad. It’s super easy to make your own ink pad too – simply use the re-inker and the DIY Archival ink pad

To finish my card, I added a few silver star sequins.

Here’s our new challenge graphic – isn’t it cute?

Birthday is always my favorite theme, so the optional twist was not so optional for me LOL The rainbow colors of the presents inspired my to go for a rainbow design on my card as well:

For the amazingggg graphic sentiment, I used the Happy Birthday Blend stamp set from My Favorite Things. It’s no longer available on their website, but I think you can still find it in other online stores. I used 13 (!) different ink cubes from Gina K. Designs in rainbow order to stamp the letters. (See below the ink colors that I used!)

Finally, I added a cute sentiment just below the bold rainbow letters. The sentiment is from another MFT stamp set – “Hand Stamped”.

The bold and graphic birthday sentiment in rainbow colors really make my crafty heart happy, I love this card

The ink colors that I used are: Concord & 9th Buttercup, Concord & 9th Poppy, and Gina K. Designs Blue Raspberry. Although the Blue Raspberry ink isn’t an exact match to Tahitian Tide, I think it’s close enough

The optimistic sentiment was exactly the reminder I needed!

The abstract bows design on this card really makes me smile I love bold and graphic looks, and usually have a hard time creating them – but this time I think it worked out nicely.
