Check out the pretty color combination that Nancy chose for us this week!

I decided to combine the color challenge with the latest sketch challenge at Freshly Made Sketches:

Here’s my card!

First, I stamped the three balloons. I used the smaller balloon stamp from the Happy Balloons stamp set from Concord & 9th. (That stamp set is sadly no longer available, but it’s an old favorite of mine. I used it a few months ago, click here if you want to see that card.)

To match the sketch outline, I stamped the balloons in a cascading layout, and then stamped the “celebrate” overlay on the middle one. That was my initial idea for the card, but I wanted to add more interest to each balloon…

So on the top right balloon, I stamped “let’s”. That word is actually a part from a larger stamp, that’s part of the Pop-Up Par-Tay stamp set from Concord & 9th. I got that stamp set as part of the SCT Crop & Create Delivered Cardmaking event on March, and it’s just so cute!!

On the bottom right balloon, I added a “you” die cut that also came with the event kit.

That created the sentiment “Let’s celebrate you” on the cascading balloons, and I just love the look of it on the card!

I really like that each balloon has a completely different look, thanks to the different “accents” on each one of them. What did you think? Do you like this look too?

Here’s the sketch:

I wanted to create a cheerful card, to celebrate the challenge’s anniversary. I love sketch challenges, and FMS has been inspiring me for years now, so I wanted to honor that.

Here’s my card:

As you know, cheerful for me means “butterflies”. So, I chose a large butterfly stamp from the Avery Elle Butterflies stamp set (one of my absolute favorites!!). I stamped it three times, in rainbow colors (each butterfly has two colors), and created a tall panel with a “butterfly rainbow” for my card front.

Then, I added a sentiment from the Concord &9th Beautiful Butterfly stamp set. I used the same sentiment almost two months ago, to create a different card (that you can find here), and I love it!

I added a few sequins for more cheer, and my card was ready.

Some of you might remember that less than two weeks ago, I shared this sunset card:

That card got wonderful responses, thank you so much!! (By the way, for full details on the card – click here.)

Then, Gina K. shared this video, and demonstrated more ways to use masking with blended backgrounds on cards.

Her demo really got me going! So, I made a couple of cards using this technique.

First, I made this card:

I used again the large floral stamp from the Natural Silhouettes stamp set by Gina K. Designs. The sentiment is part of the You Warm My Heart stamp set by Gina K. Designs.

After finishing the first card, I wanted to try a similar color combination to what Gina used. She used light green, turquoise, and teal, and it was the perfect opportunity to try my new Salvaged Patina Distress Oxide ink!

I wanted my card to match this week’s sketch at Freshly Made Sketches:

So I made this card:

The stamps are from the Happy Days stamp set by CZ Design.

I really like the combination of Salvaged Patina with Peacock Feathers and Twisted Citron!

Finally, I wanted to make a card for this week’s sketch at CAS Colours & Sketches:

So I created this cute mini slimline card:

The combination of Picked Raspberry, Kitsch Flamingo and Spiced Marmalade Distress Oxide inks is definitely one of my favorites. I tried it not so long ago in this post, and I love it!

As you know, I use the Butterflies stamp set from Avery Elle all the time.
I think they work wonderfully with blended backgrounds like this one, and the masking adds more interest to their texture:

These cards were so much fun to make! I love the versatility of the masking and the different color combinations that you can use.

Here’s my card. Below you’ll find more details about the products that I used and the process of making it:

When I heard about the IG hop, I knew immediately that I wanted to participate. The crafting community is very supportive and kind, and many of us relate to the messages of anti-racism, unity and support. A wonderful example for this is the We Stand with You stamp set by the Stamping Village. All the money raised from this set went for donations to organizations that stand against racism. I got this set a long time ago, and the hop was the perfect opportunity to finally use it

I wanted my card to reflect diversity, so I chose the rainbow stamp from the set, and stamped it nine times on my card. Then, I colored all the rainbows, except one, in different colors, and added some shimmer on top with my Wink of Stella pen:

For the sentiment of my card, I chose another stamp from the set – “The hand of friendship has no color”. I love that saying and think it’s so powerful! The rainbow in the center is without color because I wanted it to match the “no color” part of the sentiment:

I’m so glad to take part in this hop. While I was making my card, I thought of ways how to speak with my children about racism and how we should focus on people’s actions instead of their color/gender/religion/etc. I’m going to show them my card, and explain what the “hand of friendship” is and why it has no color.

Here’s a reminder for this week’s sketch:

The brush stroke stamp is from the Tiny Textures stamp set by Gina K. Designs. It’s a mini stamp set, with four stamps that are great for backgrounds. I used GKD Innocent Pink ink to stamp the brush strokes on my card.

The flower and the sentiment are from the Watercolor Flowers stamp set.

This set has an artsy look that I can never create on my own, because I can’t draw anything at all. So it’s just perfect for me

For a finishing touch, I added a few clear Nuvo Drops:

Like I said, that sketch is very versatile – just look at the two different cards:

They’re in completely different styles, and yet you can see they’re based on the same sketch. Gotta love sketch challenges

This week’s sketch is perfect!! –

It’s very versatile, so I actually made two different cards for the challenge. This post is dedicated to my first card:

To make my card, I first stamped the image of the string and the kid holding it with my MISTI stamping tool.

Then, I added the colorful stripes to the card, and stamped the image again on top. I stamped the kid on a white piece of paper, fussy cut and adhered him to the front:

For the heart balloon, I stamped the heart from the same stamp set (Just Miss You by Simonsaysstamp), and cut the image by hand. I did it three times, for more dimension. To give some volume to the balloon, I added a layer of Glossy Accents on top:

I love the effect of Glossy Accents on balloons. I used it for the first time on a different card, and I just love it!

The sentiment, “Hug Enclosed”, is from the Just Miss You stamp set too.

The stripes and the balloon on this card reminded me of another card that I made a couple of months ago:
