Hello and welcome to my new blog – “Scrappy Hour”! I’m very excited about this, it’s my first time ever starting a blog.
This blog is for sharing cards and tutorials, just for fun and inspiration.
Oh, before I forget – I also have a Facebook Page, where you can find older cards of mine. I will also add updates and links each time a new post is added here.
So, enough talking – time for some crafting!
I have made two “Impossible Cards”, with a simple explanation how to make them. It’s actually pretty easy to make, but the finished card has an intriguing layout and it seems “impossible” that it was made from a single piece of cardstock.
This is the card that I’ve made:
First, you need a 5” x 7” piece of cardstock – here I use a heavyweight white cardstock from Reuta, I like using it for cards and boxes because it’s so sturdy. (You can find this cardstock here)
Use this guide to cut and score the paper:
The piece should now look like this:
Now, “twist” one of the flaps and score along the score line with bone folder. You’ll end up with this:
To finish the card, you will need:
2 cardstock pieces for matting – size 3 1/4 ” x 4 3/4 ”
2 cardstock pieces – size 3″ x 4 1/2 ”
1 cardstock piece for the card front – size 2 1/2 ” x 4″
Embellishments
Cut the matting pieces as follows, to create L shape pieces:
Cut the outer pieces as follows, to create smaller L shape pieces:
Adhere the L shape pieces to the flaps, and the card front pieces to the front of the card.
Add embellishments as you like, and there you have it! Your very own “impossible card”!
Here are some more photos of the final card:
Thanks for stopping by! I hope this tutorial was helpful and that you’ll give it a shot!
