Hello again! A quick post to share a card that I have made for the latest Color Throwdown Challenge. The card features many Tim Holtz products, and I also used my score board to add a cool patterned texture to the background.
As you know, I LOVE card challenges and always find great inspiration in them. I usually “attend” sketch challenges, but thought it would be fun to join a color challenge, and this week’s color combination at The Color Throwdown is just great:
Such cool, spooky colors!
Here is my card –
Look how shiny the background is! The paper is from Tim Holtz Metallic Confections paper pack, that has some gorgeous metallic papers! I bought these papers long ago, and after Tim’s Facebook live yesterday – I just had to finally use them! Be sure to watch the replay – it’s full of inspiration and great tips!
To add texture and interest to the background, I used my score board to create the diamond pattern. The idea and inspiration came from this post by Amy Sheffer. It is very easy to do, and adds great texture to the background.
Then, I added many rub-on stickers from Idea-ology, just for more interest.
The main image of the card is the party hat from Stampers Anonymous Birthday Blueprints stamp set. It’s a great set and can be used in many different styles. Tim Holtz has many blueprints stamp sets, and I just love them all 🙂 I colored the party hat with Hickory Smoke and Wilted Violet distress markers.
I used my paper distresser for the edges of the background and the stamped image, and after that I used my ink blending tool with Black Soot distress ink to add some ink on the edges.
As usual, here’s a close-up photo of the card. You can really see the texture and the different elements on the card:
