Hi! I continue to slowly catch up on my homework for OCC Spring Card Camp… On day 15, Kristina Werner reminded us of the classic watercolor smooshing technique to make beautiful backgrounds!
I love watercolor smooshing, and it’s so easy with Distress Inks 😍
Because I believe many of you know this technique already, I’ll just head on to the cards!
Purple and Green Combo
My first color combination was Shaded Lilac, Evergreen Bough and Pine Needles:
The flower stamp is from the Stampandous Jumbo Thank You stamp set, and the sentiment is from Simple Saying by Tim Holtz/Stampers Anonymous. I really like this combination:
I didn’t want to waste any ink, so I created another card with the residue:
This time, I stamped the flowers only once, in order to keep the texture of the watercolor paper:
This color combination turned out beautiful. I’m really happy with it 😊
For my next card, I chose another, much brighter color combo –
Red, Orange, Yellow and Green Combo
This one is BOLD! 🤩
I used Barn Door, Wild Honey, Mustard Seed and Evergreen Bough Distress Inks,
and the same stamps as the previous cards:
Love the totally different backgrounds you can get simply by smooshing different watercolor “colors”!
By the way, I’m submitting my cards to the following challenges:
1. Simonsaysstamp Wednesday Challenge – “Flower Power”
2. Addicted to CAS Challenge #153 – “Silhouette”
Hope you liked my cards! Which one is your favorite? Tell me in the comments below! 🙂

Lovely smooshed backgrounds. The first one with the more muted colors makes a great background for a silhouette image. Thanks for joining us at Addicted to CAS.

Thank you Sue!
You did a great job on your “homework” Michal. Smooshing is one of my favorite techniques and you learned it well. Thanks for sharing your cards with us at Addicted to CAS.
Thanks Bobby! 😊
Fabulous job smooshing the colors together – they make a wonderful background to your silhouettes. So glad you joined us at ATCAS this week
