Hi there! As you know, OCC Spring Card Camp is over, but the student galleries are still open, so I’m doing a homework blitz to catch up on everything! 🤩 Because of the time limit (less than two days left to post in the galleries!), I won’t post each day individually like I did before, but rather share my first batch of cards in this post.
I’ll be sharing these cards today:
So, let’s get started! 🤩
Day 17
In day 17, Julie Ebersole shared many ideas for using word dies. However, I decided to use her beautiful card designs, and especially her use of circles.
I made two cards. In both of them, I used the circle stamp from Concord & 9th Geomertics stamp set.
For my first card, I used my MISTI stamping tool to create a straight line of overlapping circles. I chose different dye inks from Gina K. Designs, to create a rainbow look:
For my second card, I used an acrylic block instead of the MISTI, for freestyle stamping. I then stamped the knots and sentiment from Simonsaysstamp Birthday Bits stamp set. For the ropes, I simple drew them with a thin marker:
These cards reminded me of a card that I made a while ago, with a balloon stamp:
This one was made with pigment inks, and I think they blended better than the dye inks I used today. Not sure if that’s a lesson learned, but it’s still interesting 🙂
Day 18
Shari Carroll was our teacher on day 18, and she had a GREAT idea for masking and then putting the mask to good use! Her idea was super easy to implement, which makes it such a brilliant idea 🤩
I followed Shari’s original design, and created two similar cards. I’m definitely going to make some more like these soon!
I think the Novo Jewel Drops add a lot of to the finished look of these cards –
Love it 🙂
Day 19
In day 19, Jennifer McGuire shared her tips for second-generation stamping.
I have to admit, I struggled with this one! My first attempts were a complete failure, and I was really going to give up. But then, while making my first card for day 17, I thought I’d give it another shot.
And here it is! 😍
The pink ink was so soft, I had to stamp it three times! (Each time, stamping on a piece of paper and then stamping the second generation on my card)
Because the circles are so soft, I wanted to add more interest, so I trimmed my paper a little and adhered it on a colorful rainbow cardstock from Whimsy Stamps Rainbow paper pad. This gorgeous paper was part of Simonsaysstamp April Kit, and I just love it!
I also added some color with my Nuvo Jewel Drops:
I really like how this card turned out!
Here are the first-generation and the second-generation cards side by side. I actually think I like the second-generation one better!
And this completes my first homework blitz! I really hope I will manage to squeeze some more lessons from the Spring Card Camp by tomorrow, and post them on “Homework Blitz take 2” 😉
