Hello! Today I’m sharing a card that I made with a fun stencil shifting technique. Gina K. showed it on her channel a few days ago, and I had to try it too!
The stencil shifting technique is very similar to stamp shifting, and creates a unique effect of dimension with inks only. If you’re not familiar with stamp shifting, you can read about it in this blog post by Jennifer McGuire and Kristina Werner. It’s very easy to do, and works great on darker card bases, like kraft. I shared some examples in a past post, if you want to see (that post is only in Hebrew, sorry).
So, a few days ago Gina K. showed the same technique with stencils, and of course I went right away and tried it 🙂
I wanted my card to match this week’s color scheme at the Color Throwdown challenge:
First, I created the background with two stencils from the A Little Love stencil bundle by Gina K. Designs. I used white pigment ink and Distress Oxide Inks. I love the raised look of the images:
Once the background was dry, I added the Sending Smiles sentiment by Simon Says Stamp, and used the matching shadow die to add vellum at the back:
To finish the card, I added yellow enamel dots on some of the flowers:
And that’s it! This was a fun card to make, I’m definitely going to try this technique again soon! 🙂
