Hi there! I’m back today with another Brilliant Butterflies card. This time, I made a slimline card, and heat embossed the wings in gold! 🤩🤩
A while ago, I saw an amazing card on the Foiled Fox blog. That card had two beautiful watercolor brilliant butterflies with golden wings. I was so inspired by it, I just had to try this idea myself!! 🙂
As usual, I wanted my card to work with this week’s sketch at CAS Colours & Sketches:
AND with this week’s color scheme at the Color Throwdown challenge:
So here’s my card! I had to hold the card in my hand, to catch the amazing shine of the golden wings on the butterflies 🙂
To make my card, I started by stamping the butterflies in a fun repeating pattern with Gina K. Designs inks, while alternating the colors on each butterfly.
Then, I heat embossed three pairs of wings on vellum with extra fine gold embossing powder, and added each of them to the butterflies:
Finally, I stamped the sentiment, in green, to match the color scheme. I was afraid that the green won’t work well with the rest of the card, but I was glad to see that it did!
I then added a thin golden matting layer, and added the panel to my slimline card base.
Here’s a “standard” flat lay photo of the card:
And here’s my favorite angle, where you really see the beautiful brilliant butterflies and the shine of the golden wings:
And that’s all for today! I hope you liked the effect of the golden wings over the brilliant butterflies 🙂 For more cards with butterflies, click here!

Another fabulous design from you Michal! You have obviously thought your colours out carefully and they look stunning with the gold of the butterfly wings. The thin gold frame from the mat is a great addition too. Thank you for coming to play at CAS Colours and Sketches this week 🙂
