Hi! I’m so excited to be July’s guest designer at CAS Colours & Sketches! This week we have a color challenge, and I made a watercolor butterfly card. I hope you’ll like it! 🙂

Here’s this week’s color scheme:

I just LOVE this color combination, it’s great for fall cards! But since it’s not fall yet, I decided to make something for all seasons – a butterfly card. 🙂

As you well know by now, one of my all-time favorite stamp sets is the Butterflies stamp set from Avery Elle. I used it many times in the past, and it’s been a while since I last used it, so I wanted to use it again.

This time, I thought it’d be cool to combine the large butterfly stamp with the gorgeous painted butterfly stamp from the Beautiful Butterfly stamp set from Concord & 9th:

First, I inked the painted stamp with distress inks. But, instead of directly pressing the ink cubes on the stamp, I “colored” the stamp with my water brush, to create a watercolor look. The colors that I used are Mustard Seed, Spiced Marmalade, and for the Cajun color – a mix of Vintage Photo and Aged Mahogany!

After stamping, I filled some of the blank spaces with more ink, using my water brush.

Then, I stamped the detailed butterfly with Vintage Photo distress ink. To match the watercolor look, I used my water brush over the stamped image, to make it more “loose”:

I also splattered some yellow and orange dots around, to complete the “artsy” look of the card.

The sentiment stamp is also from the Beautiful Butterfly stamp set. I stamped it with Vintage Photo distress ink:

This card turned out much different than my usual style, but really I like it 🥰 I hope you liked it too!
