Hello! It’s time for a new challenge at CAS Colours & Sketches, and I’m sharing my inspiration card as July’s guest designer. I made a faux abstract painted background with stamps and inks, and I hope you’ll like it! 🙂
Here’s the sketch – isn’t it great?!
And here’s my card:
For the background, I decided to try a technique that Kristina Werner showed on her blog a couple of months ago. She called it “abstract ink painting”, but I decided to call it “faux abstract painted background” 🙂 (Click here to find Kristina’s post).
I used the large square stamp from the Concord & 9th Painted Shapes stamp set. First, I positioned it on my MISTI, and stamped it a few times. Each time, I inked a different area of the stamp, to create the faux abstract painted look.
Once the painted square was ready, I stamped on top of it the small butterflies from the Concord & 9th Beautiful Butterfly stamp set. It’s a great stamp set, I used it just last week! (Click here to see that card 🙂 )
I wanted the butterflies to “break” the square shape, so I stamped them outside of the square:
Finally, I stamped the greeting at the bottom of the card, and my card was done! Here it is again:
That’s all for today, thank you for stopping by, and I hope you’ll join the challenge!

Beautiful design, Michal! Love it!!
Thank you so much Holly! 🙂
Your abstract background is wonderful Michal and the mix of colours superb! The abstract shapes sound like a very useful addition to a crafty tool box, must make a note of those! Vicky x
Thank you so much Vicky!! 🙂
