Hello! I’m still catching up on Day 1 at OCC Crushing on Cardstock class. Today, I tried the tearing technique that Cathy Zielske showed 🙂
I don’t have many large shapes dies, but I found a large heart die from the Simon Says Stamp Butterfly Kisses die set. This die was similar to the one that Cathy used, so I knew it would work great with the technique.
Here’s my card:
As you can see, the tearing adds an interesting texture to the edges, and also creates some texture on the heart itself.
I kept my card super simple – I just added a few tiny heart from the same set, and a cute sentiment from the SSS Reverse Birthday Sentiment Strips. I think the sentiment “Birthday Love” matches the heart very nicely, don’t you? 🙂
Bonus Card!
The card you saw was actually my second attempt with the tearing technique. My first attempt was with four colors, and I didn’t like the proportions, so I gave it to my 4-year-old son, and he created a card of his own:
He added tons of sequins and some shimmer, so his card matches the Kids Vacation Challenge at Simon Says Stamp perfectly! 🙂 The theme is “Anything Goes with Sparkle and/or Shine”, so much fun!
