Hi there! Today I’m sharing a birthday card that I made, with a BIG butterfly as the main element 🙂

Tim Holtz celebrated his birthday yesterday, and I wanted to make a special birthday card for the occasion. Tim is such an amazing inspiration to many crafters (including me), and I learn so much from him. So thank you Tim, and happy birthday! 🙂

Here’s my card:

For my card, I wanted to use the current Color Hues Challenge colors:

I started with Distress Oxide ink blending. The colors that I used are Fired Brick, Abandoned Coral, Seedless Preserves, Wilted Violet and Villainous Potion. I used a large piece of paper for my ink blending, because I wanted to cut the amazing big butterfly using the Perspective Butterfly Thinlit from Tim Holtz and Sizzix.

After I die cut the butterfly (TIP: run the die at least twice in your die cutting machine, because the die is so intricate), I added it to my card base and trimmed the parts that were off the edges.

To finish my card, I added a simple Happy Birthday sentiment strip. I think it creates a nice contrast to the size and the colors of the gigantic butterfly:
