Hi! I’m back with my card for the current Color Hues challenge. The challenge colors are yellow and pale teal, and I created a colorful butterfly with tons of texture all over my card 🙂

Here’s the challenge graphic:
I have to admit, some of the ideas I tried with these colors didn’t work at all, and I fussed around with them for a couple of days before ending up with this card:
Recently, I got the Mini Detailed Butterflies dies from Tim Holtz and Sizzix. I love the big, beautiful butterflies you can create with them – they’re so amazing and full of texture (even the solid ones!). As you probably know by now, butterflies are my favorite images to use on my cards, so I had to use these dies ASAP!! 😍🦋
First, I applied Salvaged Patina and Squeezed Lemonade distress oxide inks on white cardstock. Then, I die cut the solid butterfly a couple of times.
Because the butterfly is pretty big, I decided to adhere the different die cuts to one another, to create a dimensional look and add a feeling of “movement”. On the top layer, I added a white die cut of the detailed butterfly:
To match the delicate details of the butterfly, I added the beautiful Flowery thinlit (again from Tim Holtz and Sizzix) in white on the background. I really like how the texture and details of the butterfly and the background look together 🙂
Finally, I added a sticker from the Tim Holtz Small Talk sticker pad:
Thank you so much for stopping by today! I hope you like my teal and yellow butterfly card 🙂
