Hello everyone, it’s time for a new color challenge at CAS Colours & Sketches and I created a one-layer card with a sweet island sunset scene for the DT inspiration 🏝

Here is our color combo for this week:
And here’s my card:
As you can see, the orange I used is not a perfect match for Pale Papaya… it’s a very unique pinkish-orange, and I don’t have an exact match to it. On my card, I used the closest color I have – Dried Marigold, although it’s too “yellow”. I tried another ink color too, but that was too pink… You’re getting the idea 😅 We always say “use what you have”, so that’s what I did!
I used the Circle Extraordinaire stencil from My Favorite Things, and some Mint Tape, to mask the different areas of the island scene. Beside Dried Marigold for the sky, I used Pumice Stone for the island and Salty Ocean for the sea.
Once the little scene was ready, I added the small palms die cut that I created with the Occasional Tags die set from Brutus Monroe. That set has many cute dies, and I used the pumpkin dies to create a fun Halloween card less than two weeks ago 🥰
I added a few doodled birds and a sentiment from Gina K. Designs, and my card was ready!
As I mentioned earlier, I created the same island sunset scene on another card, with Saltwater Taffy:
That too wasn’t a perfect match for Pale Papaya, so I chose the Dried Marigold card 🙂 But I really like them both:
I really hope to see your cards on the challenge gallery! 🙂

Thank you so much! 🙂
This seaside at sunset image is absolutely awesome. Either pinkish or yellowish, I love the both versions. I don’t use Stampin Up products and “Pale Papaya” color is not that easy to mimic.
Thank you Cecile! 🙂
Michal your simple sunset scene is so effective – and I love both colourways!
Thank you Joanne! 🙂
