Exactly one year ago, I created this card, using the Perspective Butterfly die from Tim Holtz and Sizzix:
After that, I haven’t used that die for almost a year… but then, a friend asked me to share one of my favorite dies in my stash, and I chose it. Then, naturally, she challenged me to create three different cards with it… so here goes! ๐
Card #1 – Rainbow Perspective Butterfly
To make the rainbow butterfly, I die cut it first from white cardstock, and then blended distress oxide ink in rainbow colors over it. Then, I adhered the butterfly to a white panel and trimmed the edges.
Finally, I stamped a lovely sentiment from Your Next Stamp, and added the panel to my card base:
Card #2 – Using the Butterfly as a Mask
The idea for this card came to me while I was making the rainbow butterfly for my first card. I had a piece of scrap paper under the butterfly while I was blending, and when I picked it up – I saw that the butterfly was unintentionally functioning as a gorgeous mask, and that gave me the idea!
Because the butterfly has so many fine details and also the antennae, I created the mask from Gina K. Designs Masking Magic. After blending over it, I removed the mask and stamped a tiny sentiment, in order to keep the main focus on the butterfly:
Card #3 – Holographic Perspective Butterfly
On my final card, I wanted to show the gorgeous butterfly to the max. So I decided to create a similar design to this card from last year:
Here’s the Perspective Butterfly version:
For the butterfly, I used the stunning holographic cardstock from Erin Lee Creative. I added a tiny sentiment strip in the center, and that was it:
It’s impossible to take a decent photo of this card, and believe me, I tried! ๐ I highly recommend watching the IG reel I posted, showing how it captures the light and changes color. Click here to see it!
And that’s the end of the Perspective Butterfly series (for now). I had TONS of fun playing with this amazing die, I sure won’t wait another whole year to play with it again!…
By the way, I’m submitting the third card to the current Monday challenge at Simon Says Stamp – Light Up the New Year!
