Hello! After a short break, I’m back with new cards for CAS(E) this Sketch!
This week’s sketch is super fun. It’s sketch #138 revisited! I just love it then they revisit older sketches 🤩 it’s amazing how crafters make different things with the same sketch.
My crafting wheels really started to roll when I saw the sketch Because it was so inspiring, I made two cards. It happens to me all the time… one great sketch and I’m in a card making frenzy 😄
Here are my cards. I applied Distress Oxide inks on both of them using blending brushes. In order to mask the square, I used full sticky notes (where the entire back of the note is sticky). I have learnt this is a trick from the amazing Jennifer Mcguire 🙂
In both of them, I stamped a large “Thank You” sentiment that fits perfectly in the square.
Stripes Stencil Card

The sketch has stripes on the square, so I thought it would be fun to do a “negative” of the sketch, make a striped background and leave the square untouched. I used an old stripes stencil, with Peacock Feathers and Lucky Clover distress oxides. I wanted to leave the stripes with a “texture”, so I didn’t apply too much ink.
Pink and Orange Card

My second card is simpler than the first, with a blended background. Unlike the technique I used in this post for distress oxide ink blending, this time I applied the inks heavily with blending brushes, and without a blending tool. It worked well, because I used Neenah Solar White cardstock, that’s smoother than watercolor paper.
The ink colors are Spiced Marmalade and Worn Lipstick (the perfect pink!):
Bonus Card!
This card is just for fun, I’m not submitting it to the challenge as it’s too far from it (in my opinion):
My youngest boy wanted to help me take photos of the cards… so in this photo you can see his fingers 🙂
Maybe you noticed that the masking wasn’t perfect on this card. I tried to fix it, but decided to “embrace imperfection” like Tim Holtz says, and keep it this way. I still like it 🙂
